What We Offer

ORTON GILLINGHAM/LANGUAGE TUTORING
Orton Gillingham (OG) is an instructional approach used with children who have difficulty with reading, spelling, and writing, and who may have dyslexia and other language disorders. The OG approach employs a VAKT (visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile) approach, while focusing on the unique needs of each individual child. Each session provides reading and writing drills, followed by the learning of a new concept and/or review & reinforcement of previous taught concepts. This methodical, step-by-step approach, combined with the integration of movement and action breaks, ensures successful learning for the child.
MATH TUTORING
Children who have difficulty with language also often demonstrate difficulties in math. Math sessions focus on strengthening foundational concepts, as well as step-by-step explanations and practice in order to strengthen knowledge of concepts covered in provincial curriculum. Specific strategies and techniques are employed to assist children in retaining concepts, and movement and action breaks are integrated throughout the session.

SUBJECT SUPPORT TUTORING
Subject support sessions provide children with the opportunity to review and clarify particular concepts covered at school, as well as incorporate executive functioning skills. Whether the session focuses on math, science, social studies, or language arts, each session will engage the child, reinforce subject areas, and build confidence in their learning. Each session will also involve movement and action breaks to ensure successful learning for the child.
